The best schools in Madrid
Madrid’s most prestigious schools stand out for offering educational programmes that combine a rigorous academic education with preparation tailored to an increasingly international environment.
At ISP Schools, we have three schools in the Community of Madrid that offer their own educational programmes: Internacional Aravaca, Fontenebro International School and St. George Madrid. Each follows a different model, although all share an international approach to learning.
ISP Schools, amongst the most prestigious in Madrid
The three ISP Schools in Madrid share a philosophy centred on the progress of each student. Building on this common foundation, each school develops its own curriculum and identity.
Internacional Aravaca
Internacional Aravaca is a school based in Madrid that supports pupils aged 2 to 18. It offers the full International Baccalaureate programme — PYP, MYP and IBDP — alongside the option to study the Spanish Baccalaureate. Its programme also incorporates bilingualism from the earliest years and the choice of French or German as a third language.
Skills development plays a prominent role in its educational approach. Programmes focused on public speaking and debate help pupils to express themselves confidently, structure their ideas and acquire skills that will be useful during the next stages of their education.
Fontenebro International School
Fontenebro International School is situated in Moralzarzal, in the hills of Madrid, and provides education for pupils aged 1 to 18. Its programme combines the Spanish curriculum with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Middle Years Programme (IMYP). Bilingual education begins in the first year.
The educational programme places particular emphasis on developing each pupil’s abilities and providing personalised support. Emotional education is also an integral part of its approach, alongside teaching methods designed to foster creativity and critical thinking.
Its location also allows pupils to experience school life in a natural environment that aligns with the school’s commitment to sustainability.
St. George Madrid
St. George Madrid offers a British education for pupils aged 2 to 18. Its academic pathway is based on the British Curriculum and progresses to IGCSE before leading to the IB Diploma in the final stage. The school brings together pupils from over 50 nationalities and uses English as the main language of instruction.
This multicultural character makes day-to-day interaction a fundamental part of an international education. Pupils become accustomed to working with classmates from different backgrounds and use English naturally throughout their school life.
Why are they among the best schools in Madrid?
A high-quality educational programme must support academic development over many years and progressively prepare pupils to take on new challenges. At our schools in Madrid, this preparation incorporates an international dimension that broadens learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
International education
Learning in an international environment enables pupils to become familiar with different perspectives and ways of understanding the world from an early age. This experience can be gained through the curriculum itself and also by interacting with students from other countries.
Being part of ISP further expands this dimension. International Learning Opportunities (ILOs) enable students to take part in joint initiatives with students from other schools in the network and to develop international experiences across a wide range of fields.
Preparation for International Universities
The path to university begins well before the end of the Sixth Form. Students need to gradually discover their interests and find out which pathways can help them achieve their academic goals.
ISP’s programme incorporates this support through Future Pathways, one of the pillars of Learning.First™. University and career guidance helps students assess their options and gradually prepare for the next stage of their education.
The curricular diversity of our schools in Madrid also opens up different pathways. Internacional Aravaca offers the full IB programme, whilst St. George Madrid follows the British curriculum, culminating in the IB Diploma. Fontenebro combines international programmes at different stages with the Spanish curriculum.
Academic Excellence
Academic Achievement is another of the five pillars of Learning.First™ and is based on a fundamental principle: every student needs learning opportunities tailored to their starting point and their capacity for progression.
This personalised approach allows us to set ambitious goals without losing sight of individual needs. Academic excellence is built through constant monitoring of learning and an environment in which students can progressively develop greater autonomy.
The accolades received by the Madrid-based ISP Schools during 2026 reflect the consolidation of these projects within the Spanish educational landscape. Internacional Aravaca, Fontenebro International School and St. George Madrid feature amongst the leading schools in Madrid in the selection compiled by ISP Schools.
Why choose an ISP Schools school?
Being part of ISP means becoming part of an international educational community. Learning.First™ structures this approach around five pillars: Academic Achievement drives personalised progress; Life Competencies develops the skills needed to tackle new challenges; Multilingualism enhances language learning; ILOS provide international experiences; and Future Pathways supports academic and professional preparation.
The ISP Schools in Madrid have been ranked amongst the best schools in Spain. Choosing an ISP School means joining a programme with an international outlook and gaining access to learning opportunities that support pupils throughout their educational journey.
