International schools with a method based on linguistic immersion

Linguistic immersion is what allows a student to really learn a language, with this method he or she can acquire a solid base of knowledge, to improve his or her command of the language in the future. In our international schools the concept of linguistic immersion is present on a daily basis, so all our students learn English in a very similar way to the way they have learned their mother tongue. This method helps us to offer our students unique linguistic experiences.

What is linguistic immersion?

We can define linguistic immersion as a teaching process based on the intensive exposure of the student to a second language, usually through experiences that stimulate the practical use of the language being learned.

Obviously, classroom instruction is important in acquiring a broad lexicon and learning the grammatical structures of a language, but this learning is of no use if it is not put into practice. Language immersion activities favour  the real use of the language, in situations in which the student will develop his or her communicative skills at a higher level than he or she usually does in the classroom.

The consequence of exposing a student to experiences of this type is that in a short time he or she will be able to normalize the use of a second language. It is important to keep in mind that the real objective of language learning is based on the ability to communicate, language immersion is based precisely on the stimulation of the student’s communicative abilities.

The importance of enjoying international experiences during language learning

One of the best ways to learn a language is by traveling. Our schools are part of the ISP (International School Partnership), an organisation  created by schools around the world, whose objective is to offer international language programs to their students.

One of our main educational resources is based on the international activities promoted by ISP. The advantage for students is the availability of dozens of schools all over the world, with which they can live educational experiences based on real language immersion. Traveling and learning languages allows students to put into practice all the knowledge they have acquired in real environments in which they must use all their communicative resources.

Both ISP and our schools share a series of objectives focused on the student and his or her learning.

  • We help our students learn a language at the highest level.
  • We inspire our students to succeed now and in the future.
  • Our teaching is truly international, based on cultural and linguistic immersions.
  • Our method is a reference for other language institutions.

The importance of learning about other cultures

When we talk about language learning through language immersion, we must keep in mind that the student not only learns a language, but also comes into contact with other cultures.

One of the main advantages of enjoying immersive experiences is that students have direct contact with other cultures, which allows them to get to know other points of view. When a person learns a language, it is important for them to know that behind a language there are customs, traditions and in general, a society with its own characteristics, the experience of getting to know this culture is also part of the language learning process.

As part of a complete linguistic education, in our schools we encourage activities that allow the student to learn first hand the characteristics of other cultures, always relating these activities to the learning of the language.

Future-oriented language learning

Our goal is to prepare our students for their future. The challenges that today’s students will have to face will be based on the need to learn continuously, the world is constantly changing and the labour  market demands people who are able to adapt on a daily basis. Learning a second language will open many doors to anyone who wants to opt for a full integration in the labour  market, but it will also allow them to have a series of cognitive skills that can be applied to other fields.

Communication skills in different languages are already a basic quality demanded by all types of companies, our students not only learn a language, but also acquire a series of basic grammatical and linguistic structures, which will allow them to continue improving their level in the future. International experiences allow them to establish their abilities and begin to communicate in other languages from an early age.

Language learning based on our teaching method allows them to lead their abilities to the needs they will have in the future, both in their professional and personal careers.

A teaching method adapted to each student

One of the keys of our language education program is that we offer each student the teaching method they need. Combining face-to-face classes with digital teaching methods and international experiences is what differentiates our schools from other centers, it is a process with which we get the student to assimilate communication in other languages in a natural way, through daily experiences.

The learning of a language is an evolutionary process, but it poses a challenge based on continuous improvement and the desire to learn. This capacity for permanent improvement can be applied to other fields of education, motivating the student to maintain a positive attitude towards change and learning. Our study programs are oriented to both the present and the future of our students, because we know that the knowledge they acquire during this time will be fundamental for their future work.

If you are looking for an international school that truly offers different language experiences, our centers give you the opportunity to choose a language-centered teaching method, with experiences based on linguistic activities oriented to direct communication and all the resources our students demand.
